Oh My Nuts - Gara Entertainments

Apps to look out for is a regular feature where we take a look at an app that may have otherwise gone under your radar, and that may be very well worth a look.

Oh My Nuts

Oh My Nuts is an interesting physics based puzzle game for iPhone. It is similar in basic gameplay to Angry Birds, with slingshot based gameplay mechanic, but it is its influence from an unlikely source that really makes the game fun to play; Donkey Kong Country. Well, more specifically, the barrels from Donkey Kong Country.

The aim of the game is to shoot a squirrel from a pig’s mouth in order to collect nuts and points. Each level is littered with obstacles such as enemies, and also items, like trampolines and the aforementioned barrels. When you land in a barrel, you can shoot yourself out of it with a touch of the screen, and there are many different kinds to add a bit of tactical play. Some barrels rotate automatically while others scroll up and down. It is the need to time your moves well that adds a bit of depth to this arcade style game.

Here, in the words of the developer are the best points of the game:

 ★ Retina Display

★ 60 Challenging Levels with more soon to be added!

★ Levels spread across 4 unique country background: Brazil, France, Japan, and the U.S!

★ Smooth, vibrantly animated Cartoon Graphics

★ Addicting “Drag, Aim, & Shoot!” Gameplay.

★ Advanced in-game Physics Engine.

★ Responsive Touch & Drag controls w/ trajectory aiming help.

With 60 levels to play through, you are certainly getting your money’s worth here, and the charming graphics and sound, along with Game Center integration, really help to add value.

Overall, this game comes recommended to those looking for something to replace Angry Birds that provides a fun and tactical challenge.
