123 Chinese - Legendary Crafters Ltd Apps to look out for is a regular feature where we take a look at an app that may have gone under your radar, and may in fact be worth a look.

We have reviewed a few educational apps recently here at The Smartphone App Review, but none of them have been as ambitious as this one. 123 Chinese aims to help your child to learn one of the most notoriously difficult languages to learn; Chinese.

The great thing about the app it that it is so clever in how it teaches. The app will teach your child how to read, write and speak basic Chinese, and it does it in an interactive, intelligent, and most importantly of all, fun way.

The app has flashcards at its heart, which as you may know is an extremely effective method of learning, but it goes beyond other flashcard apps in several key ways. First of all, it is beautifully created and the characters and objects to learn have obviously had a lot of time poured into their creation. This helps a child to actually want to play around with the app.

Secondly, there are some additional options that help the app to fly. You can learn to draw and write Chinese symbols by tracing them using the touch screen. This is a great use of the iPad’s big screen, and kids will no doubt find it fun, while probably not realising they are actually learning.

There are more difficult levels to learn once all of the basic words and sounds have been mastered. This curved approach to learning will undoubtedly help many children to keep progressing with the language.

Overall, this is a great learning tool, and will also provide any child with a lot of fun games while they are learning what is a tricky language.
