Team 17 have announced that their splendid Amiga top down shooter series Alien Breed, is going to be making a long awaited appearance on iPhone and iPad. The game is still well loved by fans, so the good news is that Team 17 looks set to produce a faithful update of the classic.

The game will include the first, original Alien Breed, alongside the remade Special Edition and will also include an all new convergence mode. No news yet on what convergence mode actually is, but the more modes the merrier, and the simple inclusion of the Special Edition is very good news. There will be different control methods to choose from, as well as the ability to select between old and redone graphics.

The game will feature Game Center integration, but no news yet of any co-op modes, which is worrying, as Alien Breed wouldn’t be the same with multiplayer.

The game is out sometime in August as a universal app, and we will have a review up on the day of release.
