When it comes to game apps, I am all about the challenge. Give me a good puzzle and I am apt to want to solve. Add some interesting mechanics and you will have me even more intrigued. Fold the Adventure by Digital Worlds brings all that with a cute hero and story all in one package.

Here is the app’s full description:

Fold the Adventure is a unique paper folding game that combines puzzle and arcade gameplays. Your goal is to help prince Nezo in his quest of brining back stars stolen by an evil alchemist. The basics of the game are very easy to master, yet it would take Fold the Adventure image 2some time to excel at every aspect of it.

We got attention from Jennifer Allen (148Apps), she was hard and bashing as she always do in her reviews, but even she liked our cute hero – prince Nezo.

Fold the Adventure is just as intriguing and delightful as the title. You play as Prince Nezo, a small creature who must gather all of the stars from every level. There is a challenge though. Every level is on paper, but Prince Nezo can’t always reach them. Here is where you must fold and cut the paper to transform it to allow Nezo to reach each star and escape through the door.

At first glance I was under the impression it was a children’s game. The main character is adorable and the environment is very storybook like. The app has a great tutorial that shows you step by step exactly how to play. The scene transforms from 2D to 3D as the paper level folds to reveal its new steps and additions to help your tiny character. Playing level after level brings enjoyment as challenges are accomplished, but soon it is exposed that this app isn’t just for children. The more you play the more complex the levels become as certain pages are struck with obstacles such as locations that can’t be cut or folded. The 2D and 3D aspects make you really think about how to solve each problem while still having fun. My 11 year old and I both enjoyed the character and the challenging game. The app isn’t free but there are many levels to play so it is worth the cost.

Fold the Adventure is a unique game experience with great graphics and replay factor that will keep it a staple on anyone’s phone, young or old. Fold the Adventure is available now in the App Store for $1.99 and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
