Christmas is very close now, so with the festive season well underway, it is time to delve into the often confusing and enormous task of buying gifts for your loved ones. With so many Websites to choose from, and all with incredibly large virtual shelves just full of things to buy, getting the right gift for the right person can be trickier than it seems, especially when you factor in buying for may different people with wildly differing tastes and needs.

It can all get a bit too much, but thankfully there is a great little app called GiftGen to help you out, as long as you are in the UK, as this just uses UK shops and prices.

GiftGen, available for iPhone and iPad through the UK Apple iTunes App Store, is an app for a special Website that is dedicated to helping you search for the perfect gift, using a clever variety of filters. The site and app have no particular affiliation with any one destination site, so results with be fair and more concerned with getting you the right item than it is with getting affiliate clicks form one site or another.giftgen

Here, straight from the developer, are the app’s best features:

* High Street and Website searches
* Ability to save and delete Gift List
* Emailing of Gift List
* In App Web Browsing of Store Websites

The app asks you to search for a gift, at which point you input the sex, age, price range and, most importantly, personality traits of the intended recipient. So, you can select whether the person is a DIY expert, has hobbies, is adventurous and many more, with up to three selected at any one time. It is this part that separates the app from other such search engines and means that the gift ideas you will be presented with are truly unique and interesting.

The app has a built-in browser for taking a look at the gifts themselves, as well as a very welcome ability to create, and email, gift lists. The gift lists functionality is very important as it allows you to keep a track of everything in a neat and tidy way.

Overall, this is a great addition to any shopper’s arsenal, and can really make the difference when doing that massive online Xmas shop we all do every year. Well worth checking out. Please note, this app is focused completely on the UK.

    Thanks for your objective review. We are aware that it’s not the prettiest app in the world. Hope it helps relieve some stress for people this Christmas.
