Green Box Heroes really takes me back to the early 1990’s, where every other new cartoon or superhero was either an environmental, safety or nutritional hero, like Captain Planet and many others. You don’t see that as much these days, which is a shame as these characters really can make a positive impression on kids – all without them ever realising it.

So, I am happy to see something like Green Box Heroes arrive on iOS, where children must engage with and interact with a team called the Green Box League of Nutritious Justice. Yes, of course it is silly, but the cast of fruit and veg characters are very well designed and are instantly appealing to kids.greenboxheroesios

The app asks kids to turn themselves into a ‘real life superhero’ by teaching them about nutrition, encouraging them to exercise properly and educating them above the effects of ill-health and poor nutrition. It does all this in a clever way, with games, stories and more engaging kids and getting them to want to eat properly and exercise well, without being forced to.

Here, straight from the developer, are app’s best features:

Power up on health, fun, and fitness with the award-winning Green Box League of Nutritious Justice.

The only app that helps you rebuild yourself as a real-life superhero, Green Box Heroes is a world of nutrition, education, and exercise excitement right in the palm of your hand.

The app itself is very easy to use and has been well designed. There is a fair bit to do here, but it has all been laid out in an intelligent yet entertaining way. You and your kids will never get lost in the menus.

It is so nice to see a healthy living app aimed straight at kids and their families. Hopefully in the future there will be more apps of this nature as it is a really good way of persuading kids to partake in exercise and to get them to really start to enjoy, and see the benefits of, healthy eating.

The app is completely free to download and use, with no costs involved whatsoever, and it provides a fun way to a healthier lifestyle, so I highly recommend downloading this if you have kids, or are even a kid yourself, looking for something a bit different.

Highly recommended, and congratulations to the developer for using the iOS platform to try to achieve some good.
