We have been going a little Peppa Pig crazy here at The Smartphone App Review recently, as this is the second Peppa Pig app we have reviewed today, but with Peppa’s Activity Maker scoring so highly, can Peppa’s Paintbox keep up the quality level?

I am happy to report that yes, Peppa’s Paintbox is just as good as the previous app and it is also just as free to use, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

This time, the focus is an art, as Peppa’s Paintbox is actually a pretty comprehensive drawing and painting app with decent Peppa Pig theming and plenty of fun extras. The app really aims to get your child’s creativity juices flowing with a wide range of drawing tools that are cleverly designed to tread the fine line between fun and functionality, as kids will no doubt be drawn to each one by its playful appearance, but will soon start to use it in a more focussed fashion.peppapaint

Here, straight from the developer, are the app;s best features:

7 paintbrush colours
7 paint tin colours
39 character and prop stickers
10 animated stickers
6 magical drawing tools
3 Peppa backgrounds
3 characters to colour in
Eraser
Choose to play with Peppa or George
Exhibition space on the wall at Peppa’s school
Save your drawing to camera roll

I believe that the selection of tools, with the mix of backgrounds, colours and stickers is perfect. Too few and kids would have soon lost interest, and too many would have been overwhelming, so it is great that the developer has managed to strike such a good balance.

The way the app lets you ‘exhibit’ your child’s creations on Peppa’s school wall is a lovely touch, as is the ability to draw with either Peppa or George. You can save anything you create to your phone’s camera roll, where you can then publish it to Facebook, send it in an Email or MMS, or simply keep for future reference.

The app is very easy to use, with a naturally intuitive painting interface that will pose no problems for you or your child. Switching between colours and tools is very easy, as is using the eraser. Beautifully presented throughout, the only problem I had when using the app was that it did crash on me a couple of times, which is reflected in the score below. Hopefully the developer will rectify this soon.

Overall, this is a great kids app that is a must for budding artists and Peppa Pig fans alike. Highly recommended.
