Every now and then, we review an app or service that outdoes the offerings from Apple themselves. It is rare, but there are talented teams of developers that can beat Apple at its own game, and luckily, Tenorshare’s iPhone Data Recovery Tool really shows Apple how to do backups properly with iOS.
Usually, backups on iPhone and iPad are woefully inflexible. You essentially get one massive wad of data that you can’t edit, view or even have any idea what it contains. Yes, you can back up nicely from this data, but it is infuriatingly inflexible and outdated.
With Tenorshare, which is currently available at half price, down to $69 from a still fairly reasonable $139, you have all the freedom you want to browse your backups and pick and choose exactly which files you want to keep and which ones you are happy to lose. There is even a free trial.
You can even choose to keep some files on your computer and have some retrieved to your iPhone, and all in an interface that is as easy as pie to use. The service is easy to use, all you need is a PC or Mac (hey guys how about a Linux version?) and a copy of the software and you are good to go.
There are three ways to backup and recover your data, either directly from the device itself, from iTunes on your computer or from your iCloud backup. The iCloud backup is super handy, and is a brilliant extension of what Apple already does.
Here, straight from the developer, are the best features of the service:
- Recover data directly from iPhone without backup files
- Recover iPhone data from iTunes/iCloud backup
- Extract, restore, backup data from iTunes backup files to computer
- Simple, easy to use and three-step recovery
- Support the newest iPhone 5s/5c/5 and iOS 7.1/7.1.2/8 beta 2
Honestly, just being able to browse the data in your iTunes backup is a glorious thing compared to what you can currently do. The simple three stage recovery is just the icing on the cake. We tested on a PC and iPhone and found the process to be painless and had no technical troubles whatsoever, but if you do have problems the team at Tenorshare are always happy to help you out.
It is really difficult to criticise this service, as it does exactly what it sets out to do, and for a price that looks very small next to the possibility of losing all your data. Both the programs on Mac and PC are easy to install and use with natural interfaces that suit both operating systems well. Browsing photos is as easy as you would imagine, and is something that I really wished Apple would do themselves.
Overall, this is a superb service that any discerning iPhone user should not be without. If you are still not convinced, then check out their free trial.
