TVShows has to be added to the increasingly long list of hidden gems on iOS. Available for iPhone and iPad from the Apple iTunes App Store, this great little app will be an essential download for all the TV addicts out there. If you have ever ‘binge watched’ a TV series, then this app is for you.

The app allows you to choose from thousands of TV shows, and add anything you like to a favourites list. It is important to click on anything you like, whether you have watched it or not, even TV shows that you saw years and years ago.

The app will then tell you where you can currently watch those TV shows, either from normal TV listings, streaming services like Netflix or more premium sources. The app can then add anything that is due to air to your calendar, which is obviously a nice feature, but where the app really comes into its own is in its use of notifications with the calendar.tvshows

Here, straight from the developer, are the app’s best features:

Low consumption of network traffic.
User-friendly interface. The UI is slick and clean, everything is broken down into nice little categories that show you exactly what you want to see.
Push notification setting gives you ‘More’ fine-grained control of the notifications you receive.
Configurable push notifications for when:
there are new episodes from your shows;
a new episode is about to air;
a show got a premiere date;
a show got cancelled or resurrected.
Get the synopsis, a screen capture and video previews of new episodes.
iCloud sync between your different devices.
A Today Widget (for devices with iOS8).
Supports iPhone 6 and 6 Plus screen resolutions.
Get a quick overview of all the upcoming episodes for all of your shows.
Adjust show time for each TV Show from your Wishlist.

Let’s say you love the show Red Dwarf. The app will tell you where to stream or buy it, but it will also tell you when old episodes are being aired again with alerts, and will tell you if a new series has been commissioned. You will get premiere dates, and will even be told when the show has been cancelled.

From the moment you tell the app you like Red Dwarf, or any show, you will know exactly what is happening with it, and will never miss an episode. We have all been there: a friend tell you a show have been repeated recently and you are gutted that you have missed half of the run. Even worse: a show you have never seen because you keep missing that first episode airing every time it is repeated.

The app also provides all the usual trailers, cast and crew information for all the shows, and lets you know what is currently trending so you can see what you might be missing.

The notification and calendar features are absolutely priceless. Spend fifteen minutes going through all the TV shows here and adding favourites to your heart list, and never miss a show again, the interface is slick, there is iCloud support….just go download this already.

Right, I’m off to watch Red Dwarf. Again.
