Angry Birds and Plants Vs Zombies Lead Window Phone Game Charge

Microsoft has announced that, starting April 7th, there will be a number of notable, established games coming to Windows Phone 7.

Based around it’s ‘Must Have Games’ promotion, there will, much like it’s Xbox Live Arcade promotions of the past, be one big title released per week.

The games are:

Angry Birds

Plants Vs Zombies

Hydro Thunder Go

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode One

Doodle Jump

geoDefense

They are all Xbox Live enabled, which for those of you that have played these games to death on other platforms, mean that there could be a whole new lease of life given to them.

Hopefully there will be plenty of games and other apps released between now and the beginning of April to keep WP7 folk occupied while they wait for the big boys to arrive.

Good news, but lets hope that Microsoft continue their current good form of pushing for original content, as opposed to ports from other platforms. Games such as The Harvest and ilomilo, which received a hearty 90% from us as our first WP7 review, show that the giant is willing to do this, so lets hope they find the right balance between getting established franchises and creating new and exciting content.
