If you are looking for a suite of apps and desktop programs to take control of the videos and music you digest, then KeepVid are an excellent choice, and is a service that we have covered a lot here recently. However, there is another option for users who want the very easiest way to try out and use KeepVid for themselves; the actual KeepVid website.

Users can freely go to this page and simply copy and paste any video URL that they want to download, into the bar along the top of the screen. Click the ‘download’ button, and the KeepVid service will present you with a wide range of options. You can download the video into multiple formats and at various levels of quality, such as 480p and full HD, whichever suits you best. You can even just take the audio from the video and save the file as a music track, ready to put on your music player, at various quality level and file types.

When you click the download button, KeepVid will tell you to right-click the button instead, and give you a suggested name for the file to save, otherwise you will get a default title. Once done, the video or music track is yours, to do with as you please, and all for free. Here, straight from the developer, are some facts about the service:

KeepVid Video Downloader is a free web application that allows you to download videos from sites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitch.Tv, Vimeo, Dailymotion and many more. All you need is the URL of the page that has the video you want to download. Enter it in the textbox and simply click ‘Download’. KeepVid will then fetch download links in all possible formats that the particular site provides.

If you want things to be even easier than that, there is a free extension available that, once installed will give you a little download button on certain sites like YouTube, to reduce even further the steps you need to take. If you then decide you really want to expand what you can do with KeepVid, you can try the full desktop application, which we have reviewed here.

Overall, this is a great free web service with an excellent extension that gives moderate users some superb options when dealing with their music and video collections. For a free service, you can’t really complain, as KeepVid Online is a great addition to any music or video lover’s suite of applications.
