Mopria Print Service Android Review

The Mopria Print Service may just be the easiest way to print from a multitude of apps in as simple a way as possible. The interesting thing about this app is that the ‘app’ part is actually the least interesting part of the app!

Once installed, you will have a new print service to select from in your Android phone or tablet settings screen. Then, when activated you simply select the printer you want to print wirelessly from.

The great thing about this is that this is a print service that will work with any app that has printing functionality. So anything from word processed documents and PDFs all the way to family photos, can be quickly and painlessly printed after installing the app.

Take a look at a demonstration video of the application in action, below:

The service allows you to perform a quick search to find any wireless printers available in your local area. I tried it on a wireless HP printer, and found it with no issues. I also tested the WiFi Direct functionality on two separate printers at home, and it found them without a hitch.

Now, there may be wireless printers out there that the service may not support, but everything I could test worked flawlessly. The service does claim to work with Mopria® certified printers and multi-function printers (MFP) from Brother, Canon, DEVELOP, deli, Epson, FUJIFILM, Gestetner, HP, Infotec, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Lanier, Lenovo, Lexmark, NEC, NRG, OKI, Pantum, RICOH, Samsung, Savin, Sharp, TA Triumph Adler-UTAX, Toshiba and Xerox.

That is an exhaustive list, and this extensive compatibility comes form the alliance of many of those companies that worked together to create this service, created to solve an issue that has plagued mobile users wishing to print directly from Android devices: multiple print apps and services from many different manufacturers.

This is obviously an essential download for anyone who works in an office environment that is even occasionally mobile.

Now, I would imagine that many readers will rarely need to print directly from their phones, but even then I would recommend downloading this and having it ready. When the day comes where you are stuck and have no other way to print an important document, then Mopria will work flawlessly for you, even when you have forgotten you still have the app on your phone.

Highly recommended.
