Apps to look out for is a regular feature where we take a look at an app that may have gone under your radar, and may in fact be worth a look.
Freakdroid
There has been a recent spate of interactive character apps. There are many of them in the App Store, so any new one must add a few new tricks to the genre to stand out. Luckily Freakdroid does just that.
Freakdroid actually has a proper back story, told by a cool comic book style introduction, and it is up to you to get to know him, interact with him and find out what his thoughts are. The first thing that will strike you is how nice the graphics are. Freakdroid is well drawn and animates nicely, and the way he reacts to different inputs is very funny.
You can knock him down to get on his nerves, but one of the best aspects is guessing which movie he is thinking of. Freakdroid will reinact certain movies or scenes from films, and you have to guess which movie he is trying to mimic. It is good fun, and the faster you answer, the more points you get.
Freakdroid is pretty grumpy and likes to complain and also to have a dig at us poor humans. These thoughts appear as speech bubbles on-screen, and the great thing about these are that you can easily share them either by Twitter and Facebook, which is good as some of them are pretty funny.
You can even send Freakdroid messages through the social networks, and he will sometimes reply in a humorous fashion.
Messing around with the main character is fun, as is exploring the crazy world he lives in. This raises Freakdroid above the others apps and games of this type available on iPad and iPhone, and for a free app, you can’t get better than that.
