Looplr Social Video Sharing
Video sharing sites have been around for many years now, with the big one, YouTube being one of the most popular sites on the Web. There are, however, many alternatives to YouTube, and one of the best out there is Looplr, a site that has been designed with users of mobile platforms in mind.
The tag-line for the app and the site is ‘Shoot, Share, View’, and that is appropriate, as the app makes it super simple to upload and share videos to the many other members of the Looplr community. The site has apps for iPhone and Android, so you know there must be many different kinds of people making videos and using the service.
The app itself is very easy to use. You can easily view videos in the ‘Live’ section, which shows the very latest videos, or take a look through the ‘featured’ section, which are the most interesting videos on the site, and a quick press of the camera button lets you shoot your own video, which can then be uploaded in seconds after you finish taking it.
You can comment and ‘like’ videos, follow people who post them, and even check your own list of followers. There is even an option to chat to friends from within the app, which is a really nice touch.
The interface has had a recent update, and is now slick and impressive, and makes the overall service far better to use, with an enjoyable mix of options and quality content. The sharing options are particularly impressive.
The video playback quality is good, although it obviously depends on the original quality of the video as it was taken, and there was very little buffering in my experience, with videos loading and playing pretty quickly. Adding people to your ‘loop’ is quick and easy.
Overall, this is a really nice app that is based on an excellent web service. It also acts as a potential cloud based video storage solution, and is overall a very good and extremely fun experience.
