Someone has, at last, figured out how to do magazine subscriptions in digital form. Like music, many people prefer to pay a reasonable monthly subscription and get access to everything with no worries, and that is exactly what Readr has done.

There is also the choice to buy just one issue at a time, but at $9.99 a month, this is a genuine bargain.

There are hundreds of titles to choose from, and yes, these are popular magazines that you will have heard of, such as Marie Claire, OK!, and National Geographic. The interface is clean and attractive, and works in the usual way magazine apps work. Everything is separated into intelligent categories, and it all looks nicely at home on the iPad’s big screen.

Here, straight from the developer, are the app’s best features:Readr

Readr gives you the choice to purchase and read hundreds of magazines where and when you want to. Whether it’s buying a single copy or by using the all new AnyTime™ service, where with a flick of a switch you get 20 minutes of free reading time each and every month to explore publications from all over the world.

Best of all, every Readr user gets to sample unlimited AnyTime™ FREE for 7 days!

Readr gives you instant access to hundreds of magazines. AnyTime is the smart new way to read your favorite magazine.

It really is a great bargain, and one that will no doubt be snapped up by any budding magazine addict. The only slight problem I had during my extended time with the app is that it does have a tendency to crash occasionally, although it did only happen three or four times during my many hours with it.

Aside from that, this is magazine heaven for any self-respecting iPad owner.
