Our ‘Apps to look out for’ reviews are quick looks into apps that may well have passed under your radar, but may in fact be worth a look, and possibly even a purchase. Have a peek at today’s app and see if you think it is worth your time and money.
iHomies
iHomies is the latest in a long line of apps that let you interact, or play with a character. Touching different parts of the character’s bodies causes them to perform different tricks and animations. These apps have proven to be incredibly popular, and so iHomies must work hard to make an impact in this market.
The app does make an impact by offering several characters, instead of the usual one per app. You get four wildly differing characters to talk to, all of which have a wide variety of sayings and animations to choose from.
This provides the app with a sense of variety missing from many of these kinds of apps, and it is welcome, especially considering that the app is free. The app is ad supported, but you can purchase an upgrade that removes the ads and also gives you a few extra animations and interactions.
As well as the four characters to play with, there is a ‘wanted poster’ section that provides full bios for all the characters in the game, and a sharing section where you can share funny pictures of the main characters over Twitter, Facebook and Email.
The fact that these messages can be personalised is a great touch.
Overall, this is a free and fun experience that adds a few more features and characters to the usual things that apps like these provide, and is well worth a look, especially if you are looking for an app like this.
