Marx Runner

Apps that help with running and fitness are ten a penny on the iPhone App Store, so any new app is going to have to be pretty special in order to break into an already over crowded market. Thankfully, Marx Runner is one such app, and it is sure to be a godsend for regular joggers, in particular those that like to listen to a tune or two when they are out running.

Here is the blurb on the app, straight from the developer:

Create music while you run! A new innovating App idea for runners & music lovers! Even if you don’t like running, music lovers & beat makers alike will enjoy creating original beats on the go by a simple hit of a button!

Created by an Air Force Combat Veteran & former Physical Training Leader, Marx Runner is designed to motivate & push people past their physical limitations through music by releasing motivating sounds based on how fast the runner moves in speed!

The app is a great motivator, and is actually really cleverly done. The way Marx Runner reads how fast you are running and uses music to help motivate you, is an inspired move. It makes you wonder why the big companies didn’t come up with this idea before, but all credit to a small developer here.

Brilliant central idea aside, there is a lot more here, such as the ability to share your run times and progress over Twitter and Facebook, 3 different speed settings, a shuffle function and much, much more.

The price is great, especially for such a great running tool, so this comes highly recommended.
