Beastly 01 is a refreshingly original app on iOS, available through the Apple iTunes App Store for iPhone and iPad. With beautiful imagery, a decent interface and a good story to tell, Beastly 01 is worth every penny of the asking price.

The app is like a cross between a traditional novel and an interactive cartoon. It has an absolutely gorgeous look, with fantastic hand drawn animations that look incredibly professional and characters that seem as if they just stepped straight out of a saturday morning cartoon. A very good-looking saturday morning cartoon.

The story itself is well told and really suits the theming of the rest of the app. It is a tale of high adventure, with epic action set pieces sitting comfortably alongside more down to earth sections that display a more human side to the characters.

Here, straight from the developer, are the app’s best features:

[+] Original story and world;
[+] 55 pages of full colour illustrations;
[+] Interactive gesture control;
[+] Optimized for reading on mobile devices;
[+] Perfect combination of novel and animation;
[+] Language Support:
English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese
[+] Language support for Korean, French coming soon;

Beastly 01 is far more than a simple animated novel, as it has unique interactive elements that really pull you into the story and world. In each area you must perform certain gestures on the screen to progress the story. This simple addition has the excellent benefit of really making you feel like a part of the story and helps to keep your interest.

The app also has more content than other similar apps, as it has 55 pages of story, while 20 or so pages is what other apps are charging comparable money for. It means that this is great value for money.

If you are looking for a superb combination of story telling, epic action and interactive elements, then Beastly 01 will exceed your expectations. I’m already looking forward to the next chapter.
