It has always seemed slightly strange to me that, given the nature of touchscreens, there have not been a greater number of jigsaw puzzles apps. With multi-touch displays now the norm rather than the exception, jigsaw puzzles area genre ripe for exploration on smartphones.

I am pleased to be able to cover Puzzles & Jigsaws for iOS then, a beautifully designed jigsaw app that is full of content and features. The app is pretty much an unlimited puzzle machine, with seemingly endless puzzles to download and solve. You get a free jigsaw puzzle every day, can use your own photo album to create your own puzzles, and there is a huge amount of packs, both free and premium, to download and play.jigsaws

So in short, you will never run out of things to do with this game, which is a major plus point for the app, and makes it instantly worth a download for puzzle fans. Yes, there are paid for options here, but you could happily play this for free forever. I would recommend actually buying the occasional pack, however, as they are of a pretty high quality.

Here, straight from the developer, are the app’s best features:

– A free puzzle every day!
– Create and share puzzles from your gallery.
– Tons of High quality images.
– Great gameplay, easy to use.
– More than 50,000 different shapes.
– Amazing jigsaws up to 2,000 pieces.
– Automatic game saving.

I really liked the gameplay interface, as it is effortlessly intuitive, and has just the right amount of features without overloading the user. The timer is a constant reminder of how long you have spent in each section, and the overlaid jigsaw pieces on the images work very well.

I would like to see some kind of challenge option, so you could challenge friends to beat your time on a certain puzzle. Yes, you can do this manually with the sharing functions, but I think a built-in feature would work better.

Overall, this is an excellent jigsaw puzzle game with a lot of content, and a nice mix of free, paid for and custom puzzles. With intuitive gameplay and attractive images to download, this is one for jigsaw fans to relish.
