The HowUdish app starts with account creation which can be done in-app or a sign-in with an existing Facebook account. Select a username and answer questions about yourself including gender, birth date, diet goal, and goal weight. Then choose 1-3 diets you are following, whether it be low calorie, low carb, vegan, etc.
With this information and your location, HowUdish will now search your area and deliver resulting dishes that meet your dietary needs at local restaurants. Once the dishes pop up on the screen, you can hit the X or swipe left, for ones you aren’t interested in, or hit the check mark or swipe right for ones you are. Each item has a photo, the business location, how many miles away it is, and breaks down the protein, fat, carbs, and calories for easy viewing.
HowUdish is kind of like a Tinder for restaurants. Swipe right on the ones you are interested in and save the ones you liked. Rate the food you have eaten with thumbs up or down and even check-in to the restaurant right from the app. If something doesn’t match your diet as described, just report it and let HowUdish know what was wrong. Using the app, I did receive some results that were outdated with eateries no longer in business. I also recommend adjusting the distance the search uses as well to get more results. Overall I think this is a great tool with a lot of helpful information for dieters. It would also be very handy when traveling to new places where you may not have any info on the food being served.
